Editorial review: November 2026Neuroscience spans synaptic function, neuroinflammation, neurodegenerative mechanisms and biomarkers. The priority is to connect experimental mechanisms with clinically meaningful questions.
Synaptic dysfunction, proteostasis, neuroinflammation and neuronal bioenergetics are interacting pathways. Their relative importance varies by disorder.
Cell and animal studies support mechanistic hypotheses, but behavioral or biomarker changes do not automatically predict clinical benefit.
Human studies examine diagnostic biomarkers, patient selection and disease-modifying interventions. Evidence must be evaluated for each technology and indication.
Model-to-human translation, meaningful clinical outcomes, patient heterogeneity and safety remain major limits.
